G.A.S. related '78 Les Paul Custom

Postby Julesman64 » 03 May 2010, 14:41

Heres my newest baby. Picked it up from some guy who bought it at an estate sale for a few hundred bucks and didn't really have an idea what he had. Needless to say I got it for a fairly decent price. Anyhoo, these are pics from the first day it came. I've looked at all the internals to verify it is 100% original, except I haven't pulled the Pickups out yet, as I am too busy playing it. Does anyone have any idea what kind of pups would have come with this old girl????? There's a little wear on the neck, and she needs a fret job too, but I want to put some real hours on it before I have to send it away for work.

Should have T-top pickups. For more info, checkout http://www.mylespaul.com. Those guys are very informative over there. Sweet LP!

Some of those late 70s Pauls were pretty messed up but nothing that can't be fixed. I would not mess with the back of the neck paint but would have the fretboard professionally done with some nice stainless jumbos. Love the wine color

yeah I'm not gonna touch the neck at all. That worn spot screams "mojo" IMO. The frets just have a few grooves at 3,4,5, an 6, but you can barely feel anything when you're playing. Fret job can wait for at least a year or so. Other than the neck wear, the thing is almost spotlessly clean, just the very odd little nick here and there, and very little worming on the back. She's in a good home now!

My 80' Gibson Les Paul Deluxe has some wear on the back of the neck to but to me it kinda makes it look even better xD
In the end, all you can rely on is your good old guitar
