Postby Vinny » 14 Aug 2010, 15:34

Planning to buy a RR sign amp...Is this amp OK? Is it controlable or just too fuckin loud?? Can you play ot whitout blowing of your ears and the neighbours???
Any suggestions...
Prices dropped dramaticaly on these amps...why?? Steve D, what is this amp worth, is it a players amp or just too heavu to handle?

The amp is like a hot rodded 1959 so NO this is not the type of amp you let hang out in the house unless you live somewhere you can crank it. Yes it is loud as hell as is any 1959 and really built to be an arena amp although if you can get away with it at home then go for it.

These amps will give you some special tone but they need to be opened up to do so.

I love mine, but I do use a THD hotplate, even when I'm rehearsing with my band (- 8 db setting).

Two VMs Vinny? Nice, has to soung huge. I think Kong has a 2266 and a 2466 also. I figured that 1959RR would be a beast.

I partly did it as an "investment"...in the way I have two VM cabs in purple...so I did two TERRIFIC deals (as the VM's are NOT popular here in Belgium) on the 50 and 100 watt in purple, so I bought them both! The difference is not huge, the 2466 has way more headroom, and that's what I like about it! I use the 2466 for classy cleans and the 2266 for the good old school crunch!
The Randy Roads is an untamable beast! And the cabs are only purely optical, because Randy used Pre Rola instead!!!
