Hi folks,
so i wanted to retube my JMD 102 with the groove tubes EL34L not EL34 . i went ahead took out the stock Marshall tubes out and put the EL34L's and tried to bias re bias , first off i let it warm up a bit before biasing so i left it for a while, when i came back i smelled something burning and noticed that the tubes were pretty lit up. so i left it there as it is, since el34l's tend to burn hotter than el34's . then i had my mutlimeter all set up to measure and when i took the reading, instead of a value like 76mv it read 1.2 or and the other one was like 1.7 at first i thought i was in the wrong unit of measure but i was in the right one .so i turned the pots all the way down , it still didnt seem to work still reading a big value .when i turned on the the standby on the amp it had this kind of a humming sound. so it let it cool off and re tubed it with my old tubes and re bias it perfectly. my question is did anyone else have a problem with biasing EL34Ls and if so could you tell me what im doing wrong?
sorry if the question is a little long and thanks in advance to all.
