Yeah, sold some gear off to make the purchases. Still on the fence with the AFD...hoping for some good user reviews before it lands stateside.

The JMD may have me covered with tons of tone. Definetly will reach out to the group...thanks!

Also while you are waiting for your amp be sure to check out the great demo and tutorial on the amp Chris George does for the JMD1. The demos in the Marshall Theater are a great way to open your eyes as to what the amp can do.

Here is the link in case you have not seen them. Once there click on demos then JMD1

Wow, the best of both worlds! You're one lucky guy, Joe. Let us know what you think to it. I still spend hours playing with the settings, it's addictive! BeckOla's earlier post on tubes is well worth a look. I swapped the standard tubes for a full set of JJ's and haven't looked back.

Which cab will you be running? Surf recommended the 1960 AV to me and it sounds great with the JMD. Loads of barking oomph!

Thanks HH, for starters I have a Vintage Avatar 212 cab with Vintage 30 and the Heritage G12-65 ?, ala JVM setup. I like it. From the tracking it should arrive Wed, looking forward to some time off over the holidays do some fiddling. I'll give the thread a look.

It's a great amp. I've had my JMD:50 for 6 months at this point and I really like it and have no thought of replacing it. It is the amp I use 90% of the time now.

I tend to loiter around a few favorite sounds but often stumble upon yet another great sound, just by tweaking a knob here or there. There are more than enough preamps to select from. A bit overwhelming at first, but I just hone in on something I like then whittle it down. Even without the built-in effects, it would be more than worth it for the great tone and versatility. The noise gate is great. With so much to choose from, it can take time to explore it in depth. Hope you like it!

Congrats on both! I haven't been able to check out the AFD but Im sure it will be great. I own a JMD50 and a DSL50. Both amazing amps. The JMD is a great sounding tube amp thats also extremely versatile. No need for external effects. Make sure you take advantage of the noise gate you will become spoiled by it. Im glad you decided to purchase it, on some other forums, other people knock it right off the bat without even trying one which is ridiculous.

thanks SteveD, Beck-ola, noise5150

Haven't had much play time due to family stuff during the holiday but so far I'm loving it! Got some Eric Johnson tones going playing Eric's S.R.V. song on my strat. Love that tune. :dance I've had a JVM and the sounds are darn close if not spot on in this amp. Don't have any experience on the others but like what I hear. Footswitch is humongus though. I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to exploring everything it has to offer.
