great fat blues sound with my les paul.

Postby bluesbrother » 08 Jan 2011, 10:22

Today i played my les paul through the JMD and i wondered why i could
not get this fat/thick sound as on the vintage modern.
I use my moen uni comp always with my strat to get this thick clean
hendrix sound as in ''hey joe''
Now i played some blues in full and classic with volume 5 gain 5
B-M-T 6,5/6,5/6,5 and with the les paul i kicked in the moen
uni comp .......

Man, i got the thickest sustaining blues sound i ever got.
The JMD at lower volumes sounds very thin but the moen uni comp
is the medicin for this.
For blues or thickening a santanuesqe sound this is the way to go
with this amp. Volume/gain/boost is what this amp has in spades but
to get a thick sustaining sound the moen uni comp is the magic

:blues seems to be my lucky day because today i also did the
peter green mod with my les paul and that :computer
makes me smile for weeks.

Cool stuff, yeah the JMD does sound sweet when a nice guitar is plugged into it. I am a very active musician in my area (got home this morning around 5:30am from a gig) so my toys are used at shows. Currently we are working up some older hard rock/metal and I have a Judas Priest patch thats to die for.... Sadly it only sounds that good when the Les or SG's are plugged in; the Iby Prestige's don't sound as good....

I read my comment again and just wanted to say they sounded different; and thats all because of the wood type from the Mahogany vs the Basswood. Both sound nice with the Mahogany edging out the Basswood. My Iby's are either really old MIJ or newer MIJ guitars with one real old MIK Iceman.

peter green mod on the gibson burstbucker 2 that is standard
in my guitar. Beautifull sound in the clean /full preamp
with reverb on 8 and a litle delay ....... :high
