Treblebooster?

Postby bluesbrother » 17 Aug 2008, 02:21

Hi,
I really like how my pickup-booster(clean with a little fizzy topend) works with my amps.
I want also a more nasty booster .Overdrive/Distortion/Fuzz pedals i use to have but start to
dislike them after a while(does not sound natural somehow.)
I never have had a treble booster before but i really dig all the demos on you tube!
I ordered one from boost switch pedals it is the boost switch rangemaster treblebooster mullard OC44.
It is more than half the price of a keeley javaboost or greg freyer.
I wondered what your experiences are with a marshall and treblebooster :?:

the java with the VM on low dynamic is a different sound from an OD/Dist. VERY cool for a solo boost if you play on low a lot.

From what i red is that it can be a very noisy pedal which works best on
darker voiced amps(voxac30,marshall)that already have a bit of breakup.
It would not work on fender amps and was originally designed to give darker
voiced amps more topend like a fender. When it was there it gave a very distinct
sounds used by very famous guitarist like brian may, eric clapton etc
When i have my 1974X dimed and kick in the seymour duncan pickup booster
the amps start to roar.I can not wait to hear how this sounds with a treblebooster.
I want to use my SD booster to pump up cleaner sounds and kick in the treblebooster
when the amp is in natural overdrive. We will see........

PS: if you go to www.you tube.com
and type:
Dallas Arbiter Rangemaster Treble Booster(here you see what it does to your clean and drive channel)
or
Range master style DIY treble booster germanium transistor(blonde graemey)(very informative ,louzy player)
or
mexicali( i did not know alot of bluesplayers use it and i really like there sound)

I have a Diaz Texas Ranger and now only use it my Orange AD15, it sounded great with the VM but ultimately I felt I didn't need it, I already use an EQ pedal to replace the mid boost on the amp and the Diaz has low, mids and treble settings, I play mostly Teles and Strats and preferred the mid boost with single coils, treble with humbuckers on the VM. It did work better with the low range as well, I prefer high range. When playing the smaller Orange thru its 10" Vintage 10 its a pretty dark amp so the treble boost does like your saying with darker amp and really brings it to life for me. Thats my grab and go set up, Tele, Treble booster and the little Orange.

I have an Analogman Beano Boost, with the Treble, Mid and Full boost options, I love what it does for my VM and my Tiny Terror. And a little goes a long way.

I think you're gonna like it.

When i got it i will make a little review how it sounds with my two amps.
I never tried a treblebooster myself so it makes me really curious.
Thanks for the replies. :D
