Great demo thanks for posting. I think this guys playing had much to do with some of the tone results he was getting, but none the less it reaffirmed my thoughts with the OCD.

That is very cool. Damn that reminds me of how bad the BD2 sounds, even after Keeley took my money it still blew ass cheese chunks.

The surprising thing there is those cheapy tonelock pedals.

I found alot of those tones to be just splitting hairs similar and it makes me think maybe I dont need more pedals.

I think the fulldrive sounds pretty damn tasty... THe Tube Screamer sounds great also. I dont like the OCD with that SRV style of blues.

blues driver getting no love?

Postby zepremains » 21 Nov 2008, 22:27

Kinda funny, I like the sound I get with the blues driver and 2466. I generally keep the gain and tone all the way off and just use the volume. On these clips the gain sounds awful. But it's not made to be a 'distortion' pedal.

I went to see Paul Gilbert on Wednesday night and was chatting to him about his pedals and settings on his 2266C.

His tone was fabulous as was his show. Great band too!!

OK amp settings are (optimally for single coil loaded guitars) -

Body - 2 o'clock
Detail - 1 to 2 o'clock depending on venue's stage acoustics
High Dynamic Range
Mid Boost - in
Treble - 1 o'clock
Middle - 1 o'clock
Bass - 4 o'clock
Presence - 1 o'clock
Reverb - off or low

The OCD is now retired and has been replaced with the 'Bajo Mos'; -

...he also likes the 'THC'....

http://www.homebrewelectronics.com/products2.htm

...and the 'Compressor Retro'...

http://www.homebrewelectronics.com/products3.htm

...and for his "instant clean channel when using humbuckers"....

I have to say that Paul is a top class guy who comes across as truly dedicated to his art. Great sense of humour too!

This is really weird as my amp settings almost the same. A few months ago I was turned onto Homebrew pedals and I absolutly love the CPR comprssor so that one sits in my chain, their stuff is worth a look. The other pedal that is of intrest to me is Pauls Homebrew EQ.

When I saw him on Monday he had everything at 1 o'clock except presence which was 2 o'clock and master volume which was 4 o'clock. Reverb was on 7-8 o'clock.

Just remembered I have a piccy. I cant get Photobucket to make it fullsize but you can zoom in and get a good look.

Thought Id post a pic of his pedalboard in case anyones interested too:
