Yep that is the sound. Of course the YJM has significant more gain (if you want it) then the Metro does. I had a 100 watt Metro non master volume (1969 build) and it was almost impossible to get the most out of that amp without driving the amp. Of course this would kill small animals and make you deaf. The powerscaling on a 1959 platform is what makes the YJM amp so attractive along with all the options for gain. 50 watt 100 watt, jumpered or not, engagded boost.... decisions decisions.

Oh and I plan to use two KT66's and two EL34s with the idea being that the amp will be using a KT66 powerstage in the 50 watt mode.

For example IMO this clip is what a good 1959 sounds like. Classic Marshall Superlead all the way.... Granted this is a suberbass clone of the real deal but you get the idea of the tone and dynamic I am talking about. Roll down the volume knob,it cleans right up for some good cleans..... crank it, and just stand back and enjoy 100 watts of pure POWER tube saturation. That is pure tone my friends!
