i emailed marshall and asked about the delay of the AFD-100 and said it sucked for it to be delayed till march or april from Kevin durey @ US Music through marshallamps.com " I know it does but we can thank California for there crazy safty laws for the delay. Marshall UK had to make special changes to all of them just because of a safty test in LA. Sorry for the delay! "

What sucks is the people running the state of California. Freaks.

kevin is pretty on top of his stuff, as he has one on the way also. he is the one helping me out with the 3 piece back for my class 5.

i cant remember exactly what he told me, but it may have been march. that is strange because after kevin had told me that, my retailer confirmed on dec 31st that they should be coming in the middle of january (which is now).

i will withhold my opinion on the way things are done in la la land and the surrounding area. we dont want to get too politically here. then again, NY aint much better!

i asked my dealer again and 2 weeks ago said end of january, now its end of february!!


Well, end of march is likely to be the real deal .. :(

I'm glad I didn't pre-order one now. The wait would kill me!

God I know! dropping $2000+ on the amplifier then have nothing to show for that cash amount for months on end would be mind numbing.

Yeah, I heard from my dealer (Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center) that the amp would be shipping in March. I had previously heard January. My dealer hadn't heard about the California safety test, but it wouldn't surprise me that California product safety testing was responsible for the delay. My girlfriend works in production for a well-known apparel and accessories vendor and she said the California safety testing was ridiculous. She had to test the handles on her company's suitcases for lead content. The test was done on the assumption that a child would lick a suitcase handle for like 15 hours or something. (I'm kind of making that up, but it was an assumption on that level of improbability.)

I put down $100 as well.

Musician's Friend is currently stating March 31st for their delivery, FYI.

That is a date I think they will meet. I have been told that they are targeting May for the YJM. One thing I think I am off on is the demand for the AFD doesn't seem to be hype in the US, looks like all 500 will sell quickly if I am to believe what online retailers are saying.

I wouldn't worry, it's probably just a couple of safety issues. I wouldn't have thought that it would alter the tone.

Going by the Marshall blog, there should be some arriving over there any day soon. Your supplier still clueless?

They probably had to test every single component for the presence of hazardous materials. E.g., I'll bet they had to test the plastic on/off switches for arsenic and lead among other things.

HAHA I think they are more afraid that the heat from the tubes will start melting some glaciers.
