A little Van Halen throught the AFD ...

Postby gtrman » 03 Apr 2011, 10:25

I just added the EVH Frankenstein to my guitar collection and when I play through the AFD I get a cool EV vibe right away.
So I had to record something ... there's not a lot of good sound quality demos of the AFD yet .. mostly just cam recordings.
So I recorded my little demo here on my music workstation and although the guitar track is unprocessed I added a little reverb as Eddie did a lot of that on the original.
Setting on the amp is:
Power 3 - Presence 5 - Bass 5 - Middle 5 - Treble 5 - Master 7 - Gain 7
Using my new 1960AHW Greenback cab obviously will help a lot getting that VH chuncky rhythm part.
And as far as playing I did take a few liberties .. hey I'm no Eddie :doh

I love my new AFD .. it's tone heaven as far as I am concerned ...

I'm a bank-robber on my spare time ....

Actually I sold of a bunch of stuff. 3 Marshalls - 1 Strat - 1 cab - some pedals ... and I was half-way there :-)
This is a ridiculous expensive guitar .. and I could have it built for a lot less but I couldn't be happier after playing it for hours this weekend.
I was able to try it out before buying so I knew what I was getting myself into.

That sounds so good, so I guess the AFD100 is not a one trickpony as some suggest. Sounded pretty brown to me, great playing to man. Now isn't that the guitar that cost what six new Les Pauls cost, whew you can't be married. Nice video.
