YJM didn't play hot-rodded marshall's. He played standard 1959 plexis with a DOD250 pushing the preamp section, which is why I think it's totally cool that this amp sounds a bit more "vintage" compared to the AFD100..

Two different flavours!

Agreed.

If I wanted the AFD tone, I would just remove all the mids from my DSL EQ. :laugher

THIS amp sounds like what a hot rodded Marshall should sound like!

How do you know that? You haven´t heard it yet. Actually i think standard type Marshalls has very little distortion going on and using a booster in front of the amp don´t yeild as much sustain as having the gain inside the circuit. But that is only my opinion. Would be nice to hear the amp and more so to test it. You can´t increase the volume for solos on this amp either. A feature that i think is rather important today with all these lazy soundmen.

About the Gary Moore signature amp. I read that he wanted some boost and a half power switch on his amp. This wouldn´t be so much different from the Yngwie amp and if it used the standard 1959 circuit it would basically be the same amp.

Now that I have seen both amps up close and personal there is no way one is better then the other, it really is going to come down to subjective tone preference. Both are voiced VERY different, both sweet, I was really impressed with the AFD100 at the show, You owe it to your self to try both.

Agree, they both are great products from what I can tell. My concern with the AFD is how much it cleans up or not. I havent seen a good demonstration yet as understandably everyone's first instinct is to crank out the GNR catalog. I'm looking for some versatility as well. So which amp will also crank out some Eric Johnson like tone with a strat and also rock hard?

I would say the yjm is the way for EJ seeing as how uses a plexi on 10 with a boost in front.
I too heard both amps at NAMM and like Surf says, they are both great. Neither is better, it's just going to come down to personal taste. You owe it to yourself to try both if you can.

I've heard it first hand at a slash show, the AFD cleans up fantastic! I have the CD from the show (although I think its off the sound board) and will try to post the blues jam he does before going into the Godfather theme. It is all bluesy fat goodness.
