No PTP version of the YMJ100 planned?

Postby bmi » 08 Feb 2011, 03:54

I think it's doable by keeping the regulation and master system on a pcb board.
This version will be with no doubt a "must have" amp, open to all mods. :yea

I seriously doubt there would ever be a ptp YJM. The labor cost would more then double the price and in my opinion not do much if anything to improve the amps performance. However there are a few amp builders here in the US that do ptp 1959 amps and could make those mods in to it.

I´ve never understod all this fuzz about PTP amps. Maybe it´s easier to mod if you buy the amp for that reason. But i doubt it sounds any better.

Modern day components are top notch. I don't think there would be any serious differences from the ones they will be cranking out.

The cost would be astronomical and unprofitable.
Better to get a Plexi or a clone and have your tech install a power scaling mod and 50w mod.
You can buy the YJM DOD pedal if you want the boost as well.
The noise gate and FX loop might be trickier to implement though

I have the 1959HW and have compared it to not only older plexis but to the 1959RI. From what I hear my 1959HW is a clear winner in tone, but it can be pretty noisey also. This makes a amp like the YJM very interesting to me. Since I cannot measure dynamics until I can play one by the videos thus far it seems Marshall has developed a amp that may be better.
