Too much amp for my cabinet?

Postby Fogdog » 17 Aug 2011, 18:24

Greeting one and all I'm glad to be a new member of this forum. I have ordered my YJM and it's due mid September which probably means I'll get it around Christmas, but hey there will be no better gift.

I have a custom cab loaded with with Celestion Heritage Greenies so I'm working with 120watts, but will the YJM running at 100watts be too much for the speakers? Years down the road?

I play blues/classic rock and the venues run from small clubs to occasional outdoor events nothing too big.

Should I consider new speakers? Perhaps V30s or maybe jump up to some EVs? Thank you all for the education.

Well, I've had a JVM 100 watter and now I have my Slash head (100 watts). And I'm running with 4 25 watt greenies. Never had a problem. I've never had to have the master volume at 10 anyways either (I'm not playing stadiums :P)

Considering your cab is 120 watts it shouldn't be a problem. You should be in the clear mate

You should be OK ... but if U need to play it really loud push the 100w -> 50w button and you should be safe.
