Might as well buy the Night train.

All you need with that full stack is a miniature Stonehenge and some dwarfs dancing around it:

I wanted to like the Haze head, but was completely turned off by the tone in the video on the Marshall web site. Too thick and mushy. I'm guessing it doesn't have a feedback loop as there is no presence control, this would account for the tone I heard. Very disappointed.

But the combo is a completely different amp. It is 40 watts with EL34's, where the head is 18 watts with 6V6's. The Doug Aldrich video earlier in the thread was amazing, now THAT sounds like a Marshall should. Also notice he never demos the stack, just the combo. It also looks like the combo has a presence control, and the lows are tight and clear, so it sounds like it has a feedback loop. It even looks like a Marshall combo should. $699 at Musicians Friend!! In any case, I've been craving a Marshall combo for years now; and I am dying to try a Haze combo out. Just hope that the cab is plywood and not particle board (particle board makes it TOO heavy...) :pray

I like the looks of the mini stack but i really love the Combo
I have been wanting a better replacement for my DSL 401 and think
i just found it, i dont presently have any Marshalls with EL34's and love
the tone Doug was getting on the combo, cant loose at $699
Love the Closed ported back on the combo for better low end
also love the Salt n Pepper grill cloth, would look great with a Gold/White
nameplate

Well, I have been thinking about and researching this one and I just haven't gotten that stoked on it. I will give it a try when I can find one locally but a made in India, onboard effects amp that looks cool just isn't getting me all excited. Not in a big hurry but the Maz 18 is sure looking better all the time. This Haze seems pointed at the intermediate market, younger players, bedroom players so on. It fits in the gap between the MG series and the VM, JVM isn't it? I don't know, never pass judgement till you get to play one, I would love to be wrong. This seems like one people will get and maybe try to mod out, change the speaker, trick out the board so on, who knows.

That thick and mushy comes from the 6V6 tubes. The combo with EL34s is more of the "typical marshall" sound. I definitely want to try one in person!
