New valves for the DSL1H

Postby Angus Schenker » 13 Jul 2014, 11:39

Hello again guys!

The valves in mi DSL1H are a bit tired (2 years of daily use) and I want to change them all. I thought about Tung Sol, but what other valves do you like for each position? I want more mids and treble. More presence in general, since the DSL1H sounds bassy and lacks a bit of 80's "raspa" as we say in Spain. More cutting and sharp 80's sound.

Angus, there's some information on swapping tubes for the 50th ' s here. Please post your thoughts on whatever you decide to go with.

Sorry guys, I have put the topic in the wrong forum. Could anyone move it, please?

The TungSols are a great option. Expensive NOS tubes are not going to make much of a difference in a 1 watt amp. Just buy tubes that are quite and well constructed. I can't make any recommendations because the tubes available in Europe are different then the USA.

Can't go wrong with a TungSol ECC83
