Jubilee Reissue Cabs

Postby ufguy73 » 23 Jul 2015, 20:42

does anyone happen to know any details about he construction/materials of the reissue cabs? are they basically the same as the original in the 80s, which i would assume are maybe not as solidly constructed as earlier marshall cabs?

im wondering if its as high quality as some of the vintage replica/reissue cabs by marshall and other replica builders like germino, metropoulos, scumback, etc...

All the cabinet made in Bletchley are high quality, just as good as the germino, metropoulos, scumback cabs. They do however employ new methods for attaching the tolex which makes repairs easier than the old cabinets. Also the Vintage 30s used in the new cabinet are a bit different but still very good.

I looked into http://sourmashguitarcabs.com/ for a custom built Marshall looking cabinet, you don't save that much once shipping is put on it so I would stick with Marshall's because resale would be much better too.

thanks a lot surf! are some cabs not made in UK (maybe some of the lines like the MG and these are the cheap particle board type stuff)?

curious, how are the v30's different? just that production v30s are different today vs late 80s? or are you saying marshall uses different v30s today than other makers are using today?

The speakers Marshall gets from Celestion are voiced for them, it is a good thing. They are slightly different they say, it is proprietary information so I really don't know what is so different in the voicing, I sure as shit can't hear it myself.

Yes the MG cabinets are not made in the UK.

Hasn't the V30's used in Marshall cabs always been different to the regular V30's you can buy? Is the V30's Marshall use in their cabs now different then they were before? If so why the change?

Yes there Vin30s are made for Marshall, what specifically the difference is I don't know. What I do know is sonically they sound the same.
