My VM's new Rip Your Face Off Tone!

Postby Slashwannabe1 » 20 Feb 2010, 11:25

Yesterdays jam has provided a few good sound clips of the new tone of my Vintage Modern running at 8 on the master Volume with these new Groove Tube KT66s. Its a vicious sounding son of a bitch thats for sure!.

Gotta say it sure is hard to hit the delay off and the wah on before the solo! Somehow I did it decent but I will need to hire somebody to shut/turn them on for me lol...

Here's a cover of Velvet Revolver's "Slither".

Dude, very nice! That's a great, deep heavy sound. I hope I get some good results w/mew power tubes like this, I'm still on my stock set but am seriously wanting to store 'em for backups and get some hi-fi's in there.

Thanks man!

I was in shock the first time I jammed with these new Groove tube KT66s, the amp seems to go crazy on the distortion. They are a #6 Distortion value and I'm not sure how they compare to the #2 Value Stock Marshall KT66s tubes I had in the amplifier originally as I'm not sure if Marshall rates them on the same scale or not. I think I'm going to retube with Groove Tubes next time...when I find a sound I like to stick to it.

The best part- Theres no boost on the amp to get that distortion! thats straight Marshall tone right there!. Anytime I can remove a pedal from the input I do it and these new tubes were worth it. I bought the last 3 new Groove Tube KT66s from my local store for $80 a month ago and the tech there found the other missing KT66 from that set 2 weeks ago and just gave it to me!.

Yes, I biased the amp and fitted the KT66s in my bedroom lol.

The hardest part was the waiting for the amp to warm up and then being carefull not to electrocute myself while biasing the tubes.
