I recently pulled the trigger on a JMD:1 50W.
I've had it for a couple of weeks now and am really pleased with its wide range of tones and effects functionality. So much so that I think it will end up selling my Boss GT-10 multieffect. I have bought a Dunlop Cry Baby and a TS-808 Tube Screamer for some boosts. I find that this rig (+ a tuner), will probably be everything that I will ever need for rehearsals and gigs.
I was after a classic rock sound (AC/DC, Led Zep, Aerosmith, Chili Peppers) and was pleased to be able to dial it relatively easily with preamps 4 and 5. Not so sure about the Lead sounds - I just can't make them to sound right through either my 62 RI Strat or Les Paul. Especially the Govn'r preamp (14) - I tried all settings but it always sounds too muddy regardless of presence / treble settings. Yet Chris George makes it sounds so defined and alive in his video interview... How do you do it, Chris? Is it just talent?
Anyway, here go my questions to the community:
1. I have stored a few sounds on the provided channels. Let's say I then switch to Manual mode and start tweaking parameters. If I then select one of the Channels again, when I change a parameter in that channel would the amp store just the change of value of that specific parameter, or will it also inherit all the other parameters which are presently dialled as per what the manual mode has?
2. The Gain seems to add considerable bass when progressively turned up and reversely really thins the sounds when rolled back. Is this normal?
3. Have I got it right in that to activate the Noise Gate you just need to have the Modulation knob rolled all the way back and just press Modulation? If so, the activation of the noise gate drops the volume down significantly. Is this normal?
That's all for now
Would really appreciate your help in answering these!
Thanks
